CARDTP Conducts CyberCreators Summer Tech Bootcamp

Roseau, Dominica - August 8, 2025 - The Caribbean Digital Transformation Project (CARDTP), under the Ministry of Public Works, Public Utilities, and the Digital Economy is hosting the CyberCreators Summer Tech Bootcamp, an immersive, hands-on program designed to empower young people across Dominica with cutting-edge digital skills and a deeper understanding of emerging technologies.

Held from July 21, 2025, the CyberCreators Bootcamp welcomed over 120 participants between the ages of 4 and 17 from primary and secondary schools across the island. The initiative aimed to foster digital innovation and creativity while equipping Dominica's youth with critical 21stcentury skills in coding, computer training programming, building apps, computer concepts, and lots more.

This transformative initiative is part of the broader Caribbean Digital Transformation Project, a multi-island World Bank-funded effort aimed at building resilient, inclusive, and tech-driven economies across the region.

Minister of Public Works, Public Utilities and the Digital Economy, Hon. Fidel Grant, praised the initiative:
"Our young people are the future of Dominica's digital economy. Through programs like CyberCreators, we are not only preparing them for jobs of the future—we are empowering them to create those jobs. This is a major step forward in our national digital transformation agenda."

Among the highlights of the program are:

  • Learning Computer Concepts
  • Building apps using Block- Based Coding,
  • Designing Creating interactive Game Designs (Scratch)
  • Application of Python Programming Basics
  • Learning Basic JavaScript

The CyberCreators Bootcamp reflects CARDTP's mission to bridge the digital divide and cultivate a new generation of Caribbean tech leaders by providing equitable access to digital education and opportunity.

The program received strong support from the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training, and National Excellence, as well as community organizations, schools, and parents.

The Caribbean Digital Transformation Project is a regional initiative funded by the World Bank and implemented by several Caribbean governments to support the development of digital infrastructure, skills, and services. In Dominica, the project is spearheaded by the Ministry of Public Works, Public Utilities and the Digital Economy, with a focus on enabling inclusive, secure, and sustainable digital growth.
